New M.D!

NoteAbility would like to welcome Gary White as the new Musical Director of the NoteAbility Concert Band. Gary has played with the band in the past, has always helped when needed and joined again about a year ago. As of November 2015 Gary has taken the conducting position that put him straight into the deep end as Christmas was fast approaching. December went very well so this was a success.

Also, welcoming Dave Root as Deputy M.D.

The band hopes that this is the start of the next chapter to great things and that Gary and Dave enjoy their new roles in the band.

Jonathan retires as Musical Director

After nearly 15 years of conducting the band, Jonathan Pickles has decided to retire.

Jonathan is a Grade 8 in Piano and joined the Bradford Youth Concert Band playing bass part on the keyboard about 1999. He was also Deputy MD alongside Claire Chapman under the Direction of Eric Parker. After Eric left the band, Winston Sutcliffe conducted for a year then Jonathan, Claire  and Ken Hall shared the MD role until Jonathan took the baton in 2001. Since then he focused on making band practice enjoyable and relaxed. Also, leading the band into a number of contests and many concerts through the years.

Note Ability Concert Band wish him all the best for the futre and thank you for his commitment through the years.

Change of Name and Image

Bradford Youth Concert Band decided to update its name and image to best suite the band, that is to attract players of all ages and abilities. So as of the start of 2014 the name changed to the NoteAbility Concert Band and the uniform also changed to all black for a more mature professional look.
